Considered our flagship wine the Reserve Release Old Vine Shiraz is a reflection of intense vineyard management and winemaking excellence. Our Blewitt Springs vineyard, previously a source of Shiraz for several icon wines, was chosen to provide the grapes for this wine. Year after year this wine displays distinct regional and varietal characters, with terroir influence, typical of a McLaren Vale Shiraz.

The wine is balanced by oak characters from maturation in a mixture of carefully selected oak. Each year we use one third new oak, with the balance in new, one and two year old French and American oak barrels. The overall balance and structure of the wine is critical, with no one character dominating.

This Shiraz typically shows ripe fruit flavours, balanced oak and a clean tannin finish. The alcohol level, combined with a moderate to low pH and good tannin structure ensure the wine will age very well for seven to ten years from vintage.
